: : The State takes its Cut but the Market takes the Cake.

: *Makes* the cake.

What the market? armies of techians etc. make the cakes, and they do get cuts but the pen pushing lazy ass private bureaucracy take the cake.

: : What are you saying the market doesnt provide private Jails and Guns

: This area is increasingly monopolised by state for its own interests (observe asset forfeiture etc)

But I'm talking in the context of your post revolutionary era where there is no state if these things are terrible now then they'll be just as bad then.

: : and doesnt use it's capacity to grant and remove jobs as a means to blackmail individuals and nations into accepting poverty wages and conditions?

: Now whose talking about the all knowing invisible hand! 1,000 companies could never collude to brings that about nevermind the tens of thousands in existence.

Who needs collusion, they are powerful enough individualy, there is no conspiracy here the businesses and the heads of state dont all get together for a drink at a secret location, the CBI (confederation of British Industry) and other pressure groups openly tell the government do it this way or we wont be responsible for the results, an implied threat that if they dont make their accelerated profits they'll fuck the economy and Joe Public who now knows nothing (well nothing other than what the huge Corporate PR, Capitalist ideologue, Capitalist political party nexus feeds them) and doesnt care well either not vote or vote for the opposition.

I never thought democracy was terrible to the individual, just hopelessly inefficient for the purposes of the collective.
