It's not a 100m race, it's more like a marathon to the bottom, as competition requires competitive pricing which is achieved by outsourcing from regions with the cheapest labor and most lax environmental standards.

First, dont assume that because our 'caring' govt introduces an environmental standard that it must be good - each is to be judged on merit. Second, if you want redistribution of wealth then consider that every cent paid out in the 3rd world is a cent not paid out in the west.
