: McSpotlight: Ho hum, yet another webtv user who seems to think that anything with the letters "Mc-" in their name are owned by McDonald's Restaurants Inc.

: (sorry if this seems tetchy, but it's considered good manners here on the 'net to check the tone and content of the forum you're posting to before you start spouting off...)

McSpotlight, it's your damn fault for calling yourself that. For a board taht provides a forum for iscussing major world issues like capitalsim and socialism, I would think that you could find a more serious name for yousrelf tahn an obvious parody of McD's. Call yourself "Coitizens Against Multinationals" or "People for Economic Democracy" or something, just not "McSpotlight". It sounds too much like an attempt to make a clever pun.

Nikhil, we chose McSpotlight for exactly that reason; this site was set up to provide the world with the evidence aired in the McLibel trial; an attack on McWorld and McJobs. Our aim was to bring McD's more hidden practices into the light; to make them unable to maintain their squeaky-clean image. Hence McSpotlight.

However, it is standard Internet netiquette to check the tone and content of a public forum before you post to it. Everyone connected to the 'net should be given a basic crash course in netiquette; there are correct and incorrect forms of behaviour on the 'net and it is a failing on the part of many ISPs that people are not educated in this.
