FT: :: I think the whole thing would run much more smoothly, if the place was
: : self-managed and their was a democratic (non-bureaucratic) union in place to negotiate decent contracts with the franchise owner.

DT: ARE YOU FOR REAL ?

Qx: Yes she is. Get used to life.

DT:There is no way a McDonald's could "self manage" ! If the crew were left in charge tomorrow, they'd all be sitting in the crew room with a large coke, watching TV, while the customers queued and queued !

Qx: Typical reaction from someone who may have barely passed at HamBurger University. Assume, assume, assume.

DT: Given the choice, noone wants to work hard. And you couldn't convince them that everyone will benefit in the long term by self managing - the majority of crew don't look further than next pay day.

QX: You have a very cynical and very perverted view of other human beings. If you seem them as unidimensional beings with absolutely no hopes and dreams for themselves then it is you who is laying the groundwork for union organizing in McD's.

DT: Tell us how self managing would work on the floor. Take for example, -the trash area is stinking. Who decides who cleans it, how long it takes, what the standard should be ? It's the worst job in the store. If the crew managed themselves they'd spend the whole shift arguing about who was going to do it, and it would never get done.

Qx: Very presumptuous remark and hardly worthy even considering as a competent observation of the dynamics of any workplace. Anyways....on with the lunacy.

DT: We can tell you quite categorically that your lovely idea would be shot to shit in less than ten minutes if we tried it on the floor.

Qx: Interesting to see the level of self-aggrandizement spewed forth here on this one. Are you real or are really that inflated in your assessment of McD's management practices to not see that a lot of other McD's managers would not even come close to agreeing with when it comes down to these kind of remarks against employees.

DT: Anyone else got any bright ideas ?

Qx: I do but I doubt you're really at the level of living life for the love of life and find that you prefer the sterile lifestyle of a robot. So why should I tell you? You're really too full of hate to expect you to be reasonable in any way shape or form.
