Minimum Wage

I have been working at Mcds for almost 9 years now. I have been at the same franchise the whole time. I don’t mind the job most of the time, but I am being severely underpaid. The whole problem is that our owner won’t compensate us for raises in the minimum wage. When I started working here I was making $5.00/hour, which was minimum wage at the time. Now the minimum wage is $7.15/hour. I only make $7.88/hour. Which means that for 9 years of work I only have $0.73/hour more than minimum. In reality I have worked my way from $5.00 to $7.88/hour. That is a difference of $2.88/hour. If the system were fair, I would be making $10.03/hour. Our government is constantly raising minimum wage. Right now there is talk of raising it up to $8.00/hour. If that were to happen I’d be right back at minimum wage. Minimum wage has been nipping at my heels for years and I cannot get ahead. This situation removes any motivation to work hard or do a good job, because you will get a raise from the government anyway. Does anyone else have this problem at their store or is it just ours? Can anything be done about this?
