Day 145 - 29 Jun 95 - Page 23

US Labour Department, Sioux Falls, fined McDonald's for
labour violations involving 179 minors at the Corporation's
       five local locations?
       A. No, I am not. Sioux Falls where?

  Q. Tennessee.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Are you sure Tennessee? There is one in
North or South Dakota because I have been through it.

THE WITNESS: That is what I am aware of.

MR. MORRIS: This says "Tennessee" at the end.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, very well. Anyway, do either Tennessee
or Sioux Falls ring any bells?
       A. No, my Lord, it does not.

MR. MORRIS: It does not ring any bells that 179 labour
violations, you had some kind of ---
       A. No, it does not ---

  Q. -- fine?
       A. -- At all.

  Q. Do you know anything about in or before November 1992 in
Kenmore, which may be near Buffalo -- is that New York,
       Buffalo?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, New York State.
       A. Yes, Buffalo is New York, but Kenmore, I have no idea.

MR. MORRIS: I think it may be Buffalo area. "McDonald's at
3534 Delaware Avenue, Kenmore, was fined $750 for failing
to obtain employment certificates from three minors"?
       A. No, I am not aware of that.

  Q. Are you aware of any $1,200 fine in or before July 1992
against McDonald's at 324 West Norbury Street, Lancaster,
which may be Los Angeles or California, regarding
violations of hours regulations of minors?
       A. I have no knowledge. I do not even know if there is a
       Lancaster, California.

  Q. Are you aware that following a sweep by -----

MR. RAMPTON: No. My Lord, I know Mr. Morris does not mean it,
but that is, I think, the third or might be the second,
third or fourth time he has used that form of words, "Are
       you aware that?"

MR. MORRIS: All right. Are you aware of any -----

MR. RAMPTON: It is not correct in relation to an allegation of
       which there is no evidence.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Just give the give the details. The
question I posed to Mr. Stein is whether he knew anything
about it, or words to that effect.
