: Yeah the majority of rich dudes are on welfare of one variety or another, subsidised left, right and centre and the Laissez faire people like Gee dont really seem that concerned about this, I mean in all the time I've been reading their posts I've heard about the evil of unions, the evil of democracy, the evil of taxation, the evil of education etc. but never once the evil of the scrounging rich etc.

The sadest part about the whole thing is that a lot of modern industries today such as computers, aircraft, and automobiles would not exist today and could not continue to exist without significant government expenditures, subsides, etc.

: They've even distanced themselves from it saying that it's a statist abrashion that only exists with the state but taking that they say all pursuit of self interest is justified then they appear to be contradicting themselves.

The idea that "greed is good" is intriguing, but they fail to realize that there greed will cause them to pursue self interest in all fields, including government.

: I dont think your right in saying that the middle class fits in with the workers as one of the groups liable to organise against all this, the Middle classes are the vanguard of the "third way" (in 1945 the third way meant corporatism in facist italy and nazi germany) labour in Britain have said that they're never going to appeal to the "have nots" again but the "have not enoughs".

True the middle class has always supported the masters, but if they ever wisened up, tey would realize that their "benevolent" rulers are really giving them the shaft. Chew on this statistic: corporations pay about 11% of all tax revenue in the united states, but recieve through government purchases, direct subsides, etc. well over 40% of tax revenue (military expenditures are around 40% but I don't know the exact benefit the import-export bank, other subsides, etc.)

I other words, teh middle class pays the majority of all taxes yet recieves the fewest benefits; the majority of the wealth goes to line the pockets of super rich industrialists.
