the gst

Posted by: sierra ( australia ) on August 17, 1999 at 12:35:43:

apparently, a grilled chook is going to be gst exempt over here. Could this possibly mean that a grilled chook is more important than the bread you buy (red deathy's got me thinking)? Why the grilled chicken? It makes no sense to me, and considering most things do, it's kind of scary.

for those of you who haven't heard much about this, the gst is coming into effect july 1st 2000, and it'll begin at 10%. it isn't needed at all, and it's evident nothing will stay at 10%. why should it?

any ideas on that grilled chook?

McSpotlight adds: perhaps a little background might be helpful here for those that don't know what on earth the 'gst' is.
