They aren't wrong, their suppliers are.

They don't promote ruining the rainforests. They don't actively destroy rain forests. They aren't wrong, their suppliers are. All supliers are like that. Anything else?

To continue with the same suppliers despite the actions of those suppliers (whether deforestation or cruelty to animals) makes McDonald's complicit in those actions and thus culpably responsible for them; as the McLibel judgement found.
