Message to the tadpoles.

A good friend of mine suggested I check this site out. After reading through the messages, it seems that a lot of 20 years old, and people still in school, are having a great time throwing theories back and forth, including theories on revolution! Here's a little cold water:

Most adults, especially adults with families, are too busy working hard every day so they can pay off their bills in order to join your revolutions. Two working parents are lucky if they sit down to dinner by 8:00. Most of us don't have nannies or maids. We do it all ourselves. Talk about job rotation! We go to work in the morning, leave in the evening, shop for food and everything we need, come home, prepare dinner and brown bag lunches, clean up, tend to our children, and maybe have 2 or 3 hours to unwind before doing it all over again.
That's life for working people. The only people who have time to change the world (or talk about it, anyway) are young people, who have minimal responsibilites and maximum free time, the retired, wealthy people who can afford nannies and maids, and maybe young single adults. The rest of us are just too damn busy. I also don't want to have a revolution threaten to turn my family's life upside down. I want this world to be a better place, but that has to come by working within the democratic system. Keep your revolutions to yourself, please, because we don't have time for them.
